Mbilli-Heffron: 10 Ways to See the Conquest

Noé Cloutier - Punching Grace

Photo: Vincent Ethier – If Christian Mbilli was paid hourly at the minimum wage in Quebec, he would have left the ring with 18 cents last Saturday.

Christian Mbilli (27-0, 23 KOs) made quick work of Mark Heffron (30-4-1, 24 KOs). In fact, he was so quick that Punching Grace’s commentator pretty much described the entire fight simply by saying.

‘IT’S OVER!’ -Nicolas Martineau

That was after 40 seconds of action, a powerful blow to the body and a powerful message sent by Christian Mbilli, again.

‘I’m a little tired of sending messages.’ – Christian Mbilli

That’s even what ‘Solid’ Mbilli said, saying he simply can’t wait to get feedback on the many messages he’s sent to the division in recent years.

‘You’ll see on Tuesday.’ -Camille Estephan

Fortunately for Mbilli, the return call could very well arrive next Tuesday, where “a major announcement” in connection with ‘Solid’ and the City of Quebec will be made. Could it be Derevyanchenko? The name ‘Technician’ is on everyone’s lips…

‘The lion has come back!’ -Arslanbek Mahkmudov

In less than 2 rounds, Arslanbek Makhmudov (19-1, 18 KOs) did not have time to answer all the questions about his boxing, but now we know that his hand is healed.

On the side of Rovcanin (27-4, 18 KOs), he gave us the right to a priest in the middle of a weigh-in and a flight into the cables in the middle of the fight. Let’s face it, for a replacement, he was at least downright entertaining. The proof, the highlights of the fight are close to 200,000 views on the EOTTM Instagram page…

‘A statement for Mehmet Unal.’ -BoxingNewsQC

No one had ever stopped Rodolfo Gomez Jr in 24 fights. However, there are some big names on his profile; Lester Martinez, Diego Pacheco. In short, Gomez is not Artur Beterbiev’s sparring partner for nothing.

Mehmet Unal, however, achieved it even before the end of the 4th round. Gomez didn’t agree with the referee’s decision, but like a true professional, still credited Unal for forcing the decision.

‘Strong, sharp and dominant.’ -Tim Boxeo

It is in this way, and also using the term ‘super-prospect’ that the international blogger Tim Boxeo described Wilkens Mathieu.

And then, he’s not wrong. It was a near-perfect performance for Wilkens Mathieu. Obviously, the veteran Gorgon wasn’t exactly Caleb Plant, but he was tough and allowed Mathieu to have valuable rounds.

Let’s remember, this is the kind of opposition necessary, but also available when we have it at the 6 round stage.

‘Really solid.’ -Moreno Fendero

These are the 2 words used by Soldier Fendero (6-0, 4 KOs) after his opponent, the indestructible Argentinian Rolando Mansilla (19-15-1, 9 KOs) beat him brought into uncharted territory, at the end of the 6th round.

We repeat, but going rounds is the primary objective in fights scheduled for four or six, so Fendero will have achieved the target of being dominant throughout, but we must also credit ‘Peligro’.

‘He doesn’t know how to finish.’ -Timothy Bradley Jr

Former boxer, now commentator, Tim Bradley was not kind to Christopher Guerrero last January. The American notably said that the Montrealer didn’t know how to finish a fight, didn’t really have any punching power and didn’t have good cardio…

Since then, the Montrealer had it on his heart and was determined to show the extent of his talent last Saturday. Mission accomplished: he completely destroyed the American Kenny Larson (7-2-1, 5 KOs), a guy who had never been stopped, in a single round.

Interesting fact: after 11 fights, the record and knockout ratio. of Bradley were identical to that of Guerrero (11-0, 6 KOs).

‘Another draw?’ -Manny Montreal

The Montreal vlogger started this as a joke after the Alexandre Gaumont fight (11-0, 7 KOs), referring to the result of the Bazinyan-Phinn fight, in which he saw the blue corner as the winner.

Réjean Tremblay actually had a draw on his card. But in any case, the joke went wrong, a few seconds later, when Santiago Fernandez (8-1-1, 4 KOs) received neither victory nor draw, but rather a defeat by decision shared.

Whether the decision was in his favor or not, Gaumont was understandably unhappy with his performance. Seeing how it bounces back, we’ll really know what ‘King Cogne’ is made of.

‘The list of top prospects in boxing must include Jhon Orobio.’ -Evan Korn

This is what Top Rank’s director of communications and boxer development believes, seeing a ‘future champion’ in Orobio (9-0, 8 KOs).

The 20-year-old Colombian set the card on fire from the opening, going to the distance for the first time in his career, but winning each of the 4 rounds opposing him to Alexis Gabriel Camejo (8-3-2, 1 KO).

The plan does not change for ‘El Tigre’: a quick turnaround is in the cards, 12 days following this fight, on June 6. It will be his 10th fight in less than 15 months and 1st scheduled for 8 rounds.
